This time, it is thanks to the implementation of technologies such as 5G and the internet of the things, according to a research commissioned by Deloitte.

Globally, mobile internet’s fifth generation is scheduled for 2020, nevertheless, Chile wants to be a pioneer among the region by implementing it in the medium term.

The research conducted by Centro de Estudios de Telecomunicaciones en América Latina (Cet) (Latin America Telecommunications Studies Center), measured different variables such as infrastructure, technology adaptation, regulation, innovation capacity, political and economical situation, and educational abilities.

The results set Chile as a reference among Latin American countries, with 4.33 points, above the mean score between countries like Brazil, Costa Rica, and Uruguay. Comparing the regional situation with OECD countries, Chile ranks 29th, and the US, 1st.

What can we expect from 5G?

5G technology pretends to raise mobile internet download speed, from 4G’s 150 megabits per second, to 20 gigabits per second, reducing responsive time between order and execution from 50 milliseconds to 5 milliseconds.

A technology that will impact deeply in terms of productive development in the country.
